Polyaniline salts were prepared by oxidizing aniline in presence of acid using benzoyl peroxide as an oxidizing agent. Polyaniline salt was used as catalyst for the esterification reaction of phenyl acetic acid with methanol. The process is being reported for the first time. Preparation of catalyst, recovery and reusability of the catalyst were found to be good. Copyright © 2004 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.
