A series of liquid single‐crystal elastomers (LSCE) with different crosslinking densities were synthesized. The influence of the crosslinking density on the macroscopic properties (e.g. swelling, thermoelastic behavior and birefringence) and the phase behavior was studied. It is shown that densely crosslinked duromers are available which possess no clearing temperature and exhibit relatively high birefringence at high temperature.
