Crosslinked polystyrene microspheres of a diameter of the order of more than 2 μm and a narrow particle diameter distribution were synthesized by emulsifier‐free emulsion polymerization. The dependence of various parameters such as an electrolyte (NaCl), an initiator (K 2 S 2 O 8 ), the phase volume ratio, the reaction temperature and time on the diameter and the particle size distribution has been discussed.
