A novel deformation gradient‐based Reduced Basis homogenization method is compared to the well‐established displacement‐based approach in the geometrically nonlinear context. Algorithmic complexity, the intrusiveness, and the simplicity of the each approach are addressed. It is found that the novel method is advantageous in most respects, especially in returning good approximations of the macroscopic tangent stiffness.
