The design, optimization and application of periodic materials and structures, such as phononic crystals and structures, are receiving increasing attention in recent years. Such materials and structure can manipulate the characteristics of the elastic and acoustic wave propagation [1]. Thus, it is feasible to create the so‐called band‐gaps, designating certain frequency ranges, in which the propagation of elastic or acoustic waves is prohibited [2]. Accordingly, such structures have many promising applications in sound and vibration insulation as well as wave filters. In this paper, pre‐deformed periodic lattice frame structures for the tuning of the vibration and wave propagation characteristics are investigated.
