Large‐eddy simulations of oblique spanwise traveling transversal surface waves in turbulent boundary layer flow are conducted. The results show a minor dependence of the drag reduction on the wave angle for small angles and downstream traveling waves and a strong decrease of the drag for upstream traveling waves.
