Abstract The aim of this project is to develop and validate a new material model to simulate the material behavior of carbon fiber reinforced plastics (CFRP) during shear cutting. Here, the focus lies on the initiation and evolution of damage in the cutting plane. A geometrically nonlinear elastic‐brittle material model with non local damage variables will be used.
