In this contribution we aim to formally extend the promising exponentiated Hencky strain‐energy to transversely isotropic problems. This is facilitated by using additional anisotropic logarithmic strain invariants. The potential of the logarithmic‐strain driven material response is studied for a numerical example associated to arterial wall mechanics in order to draw a comparison to a more classical material formulation based on the right Cauchy‐Green tensor.
