Subject of the investigation is an elastic shrink fit with annular inclusion and functionally graded hub in a state of generalized plane strain. By appropriate grading both a substantial weight reduction and an improved performance at rotation can be achieved. In this contribution, special attention is paid also to the thermal assembly. In particular, numerical results are given for a steel/aluminum FGM‐hub.
