Both human drivers and driver assist systems may apply steering and throttle commands to master several driving situations. In order to study the effectiveness of redundant inputs, modal controllability and observability measures are analysed for both regular steady‐state cornering and, alternatively, inherent unstable powerslide motion. In contrast to regular cornering, both inputs are effective at powerslide motion. (© 2016 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
