In this contribution a multiscale description of the inelastic behavior of bi‐material interfaces is considered. We study different local properties , e.g. the surface roughness, and their effects on the overall interface characteristics. Since there is a large separation of length scales between the microstructure and the macroscopic joint, we employ a numerical homogenization approach to extract effective interface properties.
