Abstract Stationary regimes of motion of an unbalanced rotor with harmonic base excitation are investigated. The equation of motion of the rotor can be transformed into integro‐differential equations for the so called slow and fast motions of these regimes using the method of direct separation of motion. The existence and stability conditions of special regimes of motion then can be derived by introducing the approximate solutions of the fast equation into the slow equation.
