Subject of the investigation is a thick‐walled cylindrically curved shell guided at the ends which is heated at its inner or outer surface. The material is presupposed to be functionally graded obeying a power law. Both the elastic limits according to von Mises and the stress distributions for different grading exponents are discussed.
