For an efficient approximation of the local and global deformation behavior, impact simulations using reduced elastic models can be performed. Modally reduced models require a large number of eigenmodes to capture all local deformation effects. For this reason, the use of static shape functions in the contact area is recommended. However, due to high eigenfrequencies introduced by the static shape functions, the time integration is no longer efficient. Hence, this work presents an approach to reduce the influence of these high frequencies on the time integration. (© 2016 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
