We consider a second order integro‐differential equation with time‐delay and show that this equation can be written as an evolutionary equation. Within the framework of evolutionary equations we show the well‐posedness and the exponential stability of the equation. (© 2015 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
