The present study is concerned with a probabilistic model for prediction of the uncertainties in the effective material response of long fiber reinforced thermoplastic materials. The model is based on a simple elasticity model using the rules of mixture together with an ensemble averaging procedure. Assuming the scatter band width of local fiber orientation angle and the local fiber density as random variables, a probabilistic model is obtained. (© 2014 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
