Sound emission is nowadays considered as a major environmental issue. The sound emission is generated, amongst other sources, due to an increasing amount of traffic and transport, i.e. road transport, rail and air traffic. Here, sound emission presents a significant risk to public health and a major cause of stress, especially in industrial countries. In this framework the present work is dedicated to the topic of active noise control with the target of noise reduction. (© 2012 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
