In this paper shaking‐table tests of a model‐scale building with TMD (tuned mass damper) are conducted. The main aim of the research is to show the influence of kinematical excitation on the dynamic response of the model of tall building with pendulum TMD. The special attention is focused on the functioning of pendulum, which is simultaneously excited by the vertical component of ground motion. There are two kinds of analysis carried out — numerical and experimental. The numerical analysis of the problem is performed with using COSMOS/M system (a FEM numerical model is defined), while experimental analysis is carried out on a physical model‐scale building with TMD.
