The present work deals with the computational determination of effective material properties of electro‐mechanically coupled materials. In this context, a two‐scale homogenization ansatz for piezoelectric ceramics based on an FE 2 ‐approach is utilized. In this way we are able to compute the overall macroscopic material moduli for microheterogeneous structures. (© 2009 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
