The original Jiles‐Atherton model for modeling hysteresis in ferroelectric media relates the magnetization, or likewise the magnetic polarization, and the magnetic field strength. Since discrete dimensional electromechanical systems are usually modeled using the flux formulation the Jiles‐Atherton model is not applicable in its original form. In this contribution a reformulation in terms of the magnetic flux density is presented. (© 2009 Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
