A three‐dimensional model for stage I‐short crack propagation on a single slip plane is presented. It considers elastic plastic material behaviour by allowing sliding on the active slip plane in a defined slip direction. A crack propagation law based on the crack tip slide displacement is implemented to simulate crack propagation. The model is solved numerically using the dislocation loop technique.
