The SIAM Working Group on Undergraduate Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) Education, chaired by Peter Turner (Clarkson University), wrote a report on the topic, which states that a “common feature among CSE programs is the requirement for an internship in the form of an undergraduate research experience” [1][2]. The report and this article elaborate on the value of such experiences and how students, often with the help of faculty members, can obtain internships. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
