The SIAM Working Group on Undergraduate Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) Education, chaired by Peter Turner (Clarkson University), wrote a report on the topic, which states that a “common feature among CSE programs is the requirement for an internship in the form of an undergraduate research experience” [1][2].
