Motion equations of constrained mechanical Multi Body Systems (MBS) are described by differential and algebraic equations (DAE). Various modeling methods are implemented, while the simulation is based on commercial DAE‐solvers. A comparison study concerning the quality of their results is presented. Issues, such as the importance of DAE‐index, finding a consistent set of initial conditions, the drift‐off phenomenon as well as the application of projection and stabilization techniques are discussed.
