We briefly review the modelling of complex dissolution phenomena using a lattice Boltzmann formulation. The model can describe both diffusion‐ and reaction‐controlled dissolution of arbitrarily shaped solid phases, possibly giving rise to thermosolutal natural convection. Applications of the model are discussed. (© 2008 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
