We present a selection of results concerning the L 2 –discrepancies of the two classical generalizations of van der Corput sequences. Especially, we give very simple linear digit scramblings producing very small L 2 –discrepancies and we show that digitally shifted sequences are not a good choice to improve the star L 2 –discrepancy.
