The paper deals with the numerical simulation and experimental validation of transport phenomena in a co‐rotating twin screw extruder. We show steady state simulations of conveying elements in a relative system and compare them with transient simulations. With the transient simulation we are able to simulate the temperature development in the twin screw extruder. The results are compared with experimental results and show good agreement.
