In this paper we show adaptive time discretizations of a fractional integro–differential equation ∂ α t u = Δ u + f , where A is a linear operator in a complex Banach space X and ∂ α t stands for the fractional time derivative, for 1 < α < 2. Some numerical illustrations are provided showing practical applications where the computational cost is one of drawbacks, e.g., some problems related to images processing.
