In order to provide a vision of power electrical engineering for future energy‐supply crossroads and challenges, quasi‐static laws of electromagnetism are obtained from variational principles deduced from thermostatistics by assuming a trend for a reversible evolution of the electromagnetic field. The approach provides a multi‐scale framework suitable to derive electrodynamical properties, from scratch to the design level. The actual trend to which obeys the electromagnetic field provides a dynamic representation of the power transmission and gives an insight to introduce the level of reliability in a sustainable planning.
