The chemotherapeutic treatment of a tumor is based on the growth‐retarding effect of the given medicinal drug dose to a cancer cell population. Preserving the health of the patient this can be formulated as an optimal control problem. We use a modified model of Ledzewicz and Schättler and present the optimal solution calculated numerically. Especially we attend a parametric sensitivity analysis, which indicates the dependency of the optimal solution with respect to disturbances in model parameters. In detail we examine the parametric sensitivity in case of disturbances in the cell‐cycle parameters.
