The terms phase transitions have been used since some years in the trafic modeling literarure to label a set of recurrent phenomena experimentally observed. This talk aims at the presentation of a system of p.d.e.s that models these phenomena, within the framework provided by phase transitions in systems of hyperbolic conservation laws.
