A multi‐grid method for solving linear equation systems as they arise from finite element discretisations of elliptic boundary value problems on complicated domains will be presented and analysed. The emphasis is on the robustness of this algorithm with respect to the geometric details in the domain. Robust multi‐grid convergence can be proved for a two‐dimensional model problem.
