This paper explores the dynamics of interest group lobbying in Ireland, and the mechanism of lobbying through social partnership, an institutionalized form of deliberative policy making. Following the resignation of Bertie Ahern as Taoiseach (prime minister) in May 2008 and the collapse of the Irish economy, the influencing and lobbying ability of the social partners has waned, and this paper explores how interest groups amended their lobbying tactics to cope with the rise and fall of social partnership in Ireland.
