The metaphor of a journey is used to describe the incremental influence of occupational science in the UK. A historical perspective is taken to identify and discuss key concepts and issues. Subjective bias and methodological flaws are acknowledged. Discussion for future directions is contained within contextual orientation. Ongoing debate is invited and encouraged.
