The products of the reaction between fullerenes (C 60 /C 70 ) and dimethylamine were investigated by fast atom bombardment (FAB) mass spectrometry and tandem mass spectrometry (MS/MS). The FAB mass spectrum shows peaks corresponding to the addition of up to eight dimethylamine species, exclusively to C 70 . MS/MS reveals an unusual fragmentation pattern. The mass spectrum of the reaction products, together with a number of tandem mass spectra, are shown.
