Analytically useful mass spectra of t ‐butyloxycarbonyl protected tetra‐ and pentapeptides can be obtained under chemical ionization conditions at a source temperature of 250‐270 °C without the use of a reagent gas. The mass spectrum of die thermally labile amino acid arginine could also be recorded under the same conditions.
