The fast atom bombardment positive ion mass spectra of low molecular weight alkylammonium 4‐toluenesulfonate salts are dominated by cluster ions of the type [(AB) n A] + or [(AB) n H] + , where A is a cation, B an anion, n an integer from 0 to 4. With one exception the base peak is the cation A + .
