In addition to the expected electron impact induced fragmentation, the mass spectra of substituted nitrosulphanilamides, such as 4‐(piperidylsulphonyl)‐2‐nitroacetanilide, exhibit peaks due to imidazoles, imidazole‐ N ‐oxides and furazans, which are formed thermally in the spectrometer ion source.
