Abstract The positive and negative ion mass spectra of glyoxime, methylglyoxime, dimethylglyoxime, diphenyl glyoxime and of their nickel(II) complexes are reported. Both the positive and negative ion mass spectra of the dioximes show loss of OH ˙ and H 2 O from the molecular ion to give fragment ions which probably have cyclic furazan type structures. The positive ion spectra of the complexes fragment mainly by loss of ligand radicals whereas the negative ion spectra show mainly loss of OH ˙ and H 2 O.
