The electron impact induced fragmentations of the endo ‐ and exo ‐octahydro‐4,7‐methano‐1 H ‐indene systems have been studied. The principal decomposition reactions have been elucidated by deuterium labelling. Two generic fragmentation patterns appeared: one involved the bisection of the molecule and the second involved the loss of various alkyl fragments.
