Reactions of isomeric silyl enol ethers with fiuoride, amide or hydroxide ions in a flowing afterglow lead to the formation of relatively pure isomeric enolate anions. Isomeric enolates react specifically with neopentyl nitrite to give ionic products diagnostic of their structure.
