The mass spectra of α‐arylamino‐β‐hydroxycrotonic acid anilides and their O ‐methyl and O ‐ethyl ethers have been determined and the characteristic fragmentation pathways are discussed. The proposed fragmentation patterns are supported by the appropriate metastables and deuterium labelling.
