By means of appearance potential measurements and metastable analysis, it is shown that the [C 2 H 6 N] + and [CH 4 N] + ions formed from methylated formamides, acetamides, ureas and thioureas rearrange upon formation to structures similar to the [MH] + ions from mono‐ and dimethylamine.
