The mass spectral behaviour of a series of naturally occurring and synthetic 3,4‐A‐ seco ‐triterpenes has been examined and fragmentations characteristic of the 3,4‐A‐seco function observed. Deuterium labelling has been used to investigate the origins of their characteristic fragments.
