Mass spectra of methoxycycloalkanes (CH 3 OR, R C 5 to C 8 ) and of methoxymethoxycycloalkanes (CH 3 OCH 2 OR, R C 5 to C 8 , C 12 ) have been compared with each other and with spectra of some steroidal analogues. It is concluded that the different fragmentation occurring in dimethoxymethane indicates decomposition before randomisation of excess energy.
