Summary The Galerkin spectral method is used to approximate elliptic optimal control problems with integral state and control constraints in this paper. We derive the optimality conditions for the control problems by E. Casas' results, then a priori error estimates are provided. Some numerical examples are investigated to confirm the theoretical results and to show the efficiency of the proposed method.
