For years, professionals who work with adult learners have found graduation rate data collected and published by the National Center for Education Statistics' Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System to be lacking. Because the data included only first‐time, full‐time students, it told only a small part of the story about adults enrolled in higher education, many of whom attend part time, transfer during their education, or enter with some credits they earned during a previous college enrollment.
