The scene that greeted John Freeze at what's now called the Center for Professional Education at the University of Tennessee, Chattanooga on his first day as director was not particularly inspiring. “There was one staff member, a part‐time retiree who was there to essentially keep the lights on,” Freeze said. Now, Freeze employs several full‐time employees and, with 60 programs developed in the last year, is well on his way toward hitting the goal of developing and delivering 160 programs within the next three years.
