The use of adjuncts in higher education today is ubiquitous. Adult‐serving programs, departments and institutions often rely heavily on adjuncts to teach their adult learners. The use of adjuncts offers many advantages, including having career‐oriented students learn from experienced professionals working in their fields. But reliance on part‐time faculty can also come with some major pitfalls, such as lack of teaching experience.
