A methodology to connect two or more non‐conforming meshes generated from a geometric model is presented. The problem leads to a variational problem subject to constraints. The emphasis of the work is on constraints construction. Two methods, namely, discrete connection and continuous connection, are developed. The relation with hybrid formulations is considered and two application examples are presented.
