The reformulated four‐node element has exhibited an excellent behaviour in static finite element analyses being free of shear and machine locking problems and of zero energy modes and modelling accurately relatively thick plates. In the present paper, the element under consideration is shown to exhibit an analogous excellent performance in modelling highly demanding boundary layer plate bending problems.
